Madonna and Child
Mary Bogdan is an Interdisciplinary artist who paints and creates 3D pieces of work that include photography as well. She also creates videos and produces several limited edition prints from different series. Bogdan uses 'rare treasure' aka garbage like wood, metal, books, old paintings, boxes in her work. She likes the idea of being able to 'rescue' and assemble them with found objects from her own past.
'Madonna and Child' Is a series of seven mixed media pieces on paper, they have mainly been created using handmade papers. Bogdan focuses on different materials and composition. She uses a variety of materials such as paint, photographs, papers (handmade), tissue paper (design templates(textiles)), old books, string and much more depending on the piece of work she is creating. She has arranged the materials to adjust the visual weight on the piece and create a sort of balance. There is Minimal colours used, mainly natural browns, with bursts of colour in the photograph and torn image.
The Mood is simple and authentic, the piece is effective and sort of my style of mixed media art work.
